Hello...
DIVERGENT BY DESIGN
…and welcome—
I’m so glad you’re here. Truly.
This space—Divergent by Design—has been living quietly in my head and heart for a long time. It’s only now that I feel ready to give it shape.
I’m Jessica Weiss. Architect. Interior designer. Aesthete. Mother. Dreamer. Deep feeler. Perpetual knowledge seeker. And, believe it or not, someone who was diagnosed as autistic and ADHD later in life—an experience that reshaped the way I move through the world, and the way I design for it.
This is a place where I’ll explore the intersection of design, sensory experience, and neurodivergence. It’s part research, part personal story, part creative exploration. You can expect entries on:
Neuroaesthetics and the science of how our environments shape our minds and bodies
Neurodivergence — what it is and what it ISNT, and how we can all do better to support neurodivergent individuals
Design insights that supports executive functioning, emotional regulation, and sensory balance
The philosophy and poetry of space—why some rooms feel like a sigh of relief, and others like a full-body “no”
Stories from my own neurodivergent experience—a firsthand account of the messy, beautiful process of making sense of myself and my mind
Musings on beauty, burnout, perfectionism, parenting, overstimulation, comfort, clutter, and calm
My hope is that this becomes a place that feels grounded, insightful, human. Not just a design blog. Not a lecture hall either. More like a long walk with someone who sees the world through slightly different eyes—and is learning, finally, how to honor that.
If any of this resonates with you—whether you’re neurodivergent, design-curious, or just someone who is curious to hear my story and gain a better understanding autism/adhd—I’d be honored to have you here.
The first official post is coming soon. Until then, feel free to subscribe, say hello, and settle in.
This will be personal. And spacious. And hopefully, really useful.
More soon,
Jessica

So exciting!
